I got to the hide the 1:st of May, around 9 PM. On my way to the hide, I saw a female Capercaillie by the road.
I slept in the hide until 2.30 AM. Falling asleep to the faint sound of Black Grouse, Woodcocks, Blakcbirds and Wood Sandpipers is something I should do more often.
I took a Doghouse-blind from the hide, and put it up 20 meters outside. It was still dark and cold, and I didn't see or hear any animals yet. The silence was really wonderful, I was 10 kilmeters from any city.
The blind was set up at 3.00, and already at 3.10, the Black Grouses started making sounds outside. Were they right there when I put up the blind? (Maybe they thought that I was just a Moose........)
At 3.30 I could hear Black Grouses from several directions, but I wasn't able to see any. Later, I noticed something white walking around in the dark... :-)

As it got lighter, I could use shorter exposure times, but I had to be careful, becouse I forgot to charge my battery before I got out...

I waited a little while, and it turned lighter all the time. I enjoyed the sweet sound of the Black Grouse, and the first Blackbirds and Robins started singing around me.

5 beautiful males and 2 females were out lekking this morning. Seeing this performace just outside the blind was an extraordinary experience! (And my tea was perfect!)

The females were always there, watching every move carefully. I saw mating once, but it was over very fast.

The male to the right, just a few seconds after mating with one of the females, returned to fight some more.

The best part of the morning was when one of the males flew right towards the blind, and landed just outside! After these shots, the camera battery died...

I also noted: 2 Ospreys, 2 Parrot Crossbills, Cuckoo, Wood Sandpiper, Lapwing, Tree Pipit, Meadow Pipit, Greylag Goose, Mallard, Teal, Siskin and Crane.
